STATEMENT OF INCLUSIVITY (17.7.2019)
This site (and the research information it contains), serves as a focal point for anyone with the surname ‘Wyles’ and ‘Wiles’ (or any assumed derivative), and welcomes people from any background possessing any surname. Although the Wyles Family of Duddington is the foundation of this body of information, it is our sincere wish that others will be inspired to join us in developing their own research and sharing this in the true spirit of collective endeavour! We are not the only ‘Wyles’ lineage and although existing in Duddington for hundreds of years, most of us now live elsewhere with our families in the UK or abroad. We particularly welcome people from all over the world of any ethnic background who possess the name ‘Wyles’ (Wiles) or who are associated in some way with this name. The further afield our research can spread, the greater will be the sum total of knowledge secured. Many people in the United States possess ‘Wyles’ or ‘Wiles’ as a surname and we are aware of some of their origination stories (linking the name to Ireland). Interestingly, over the centuries a number of British men called ‘Wyles’ have visited China, where they have worked or settled. In the UK today, the author of this website is married to a British Chinese woman and their children now carry the ‘Wyles’ name alongside their Chinese names. In the past, we were informed of a certain number of people in the West Indies carrying the ‘Wyles’ name, and at least one African-American soldier in the Confederate Army recorded as ‘Wyles’. The point is that whoever you are, or wherever you live, you are welcome to share your history and research experiences through this forum.
